BAPTISM
“Brothers and sisters in Christ:
Through the Sacrament of Baptism
we are initiated into Christ’s Holy Church
We are incorporated into God’s mighty acts of salvation
and given new birth through water and the Spirit.
All this is God’s gift, offered to us without price.”
The United Methodist Book of Worship (Nashville: The United Methodist Publishing House, 1992), 87.

In the United Methodist Church we baptize any and all who have never been baptized before, infants to adults. The above baptismal liturgy says, baptism is “God’s gift”; so, it should never be denied anyone honestly giving their life to Jesus Christ as their Lord. Where it is possible, a baptism is always celebrated within the context of a worship service as it is a public profession of faith for those being baptized. In the case of infant baptism, the vows are taken by the parents/godparents on behalf of the child until that child is old enough to accept the baptismal vows for themselves, usually at confirmation.
Should you wish to schedule a baptism ceremony at NUMC, please contact the church office.
HOLY COMMUNION
Most months, we celebrate Holy Communion, also known as the Lord’s Supper. This is the meal that Jesus Christ instructed his disciples to continue sharing after he was raised from the dead, to remember his sacrifice on the cross for our redemption and to remind us that he lives on in us personally and in community together. One of Methodism’s founders, Rev. John Wesley, strongly believed that Holy Communion was a “converting ordinance,” meaning he felt that this sacrament had the potential to bring an unbeliever to faith. In this spirit, we welcome anyone and everyone to the Communion table, member or not, believer or not, young and old alike—ALL are welcome at the table.

A gluten-free option is available upon request.
MARRIAGE
The United Methodist Church views marriage as a sacred, lifelong covenant. The ceremony itself is a worship experience typically including Scripture readings, a message, prayers and songs, emphasizing the couple's relationship with God and their desire to grow together in Christ.

All inquiries regarding wedding arrangements at NUMC should be directed to the church office.
MEMORIALS & CELEBRATIONS OF LIFE
In times of grief, we seek solace in the care of our Lord, Jesus Christ. Services of Remembrance provide an opportunity to grieve, honor our loved ones and feel comforted by God and our community of faith.

Those interested in holding a Celebration of Life ceremony at NUMC, should reach out to the church office.
