ADDITIONAL PROGRAMMING
NUMC offers educational opportunities for all ages with supplemental programming that guides and strengthens our community and spiritual development.
Acolytes
Children's Programming

“I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”
Jesus brought light into the world – not by carrying a torch, but by the messages in his lessons. He made people “see” the way we should live our lives. Today we use candles in church as a symbol of Jesus being with us and teaching us so that we may “see” His way to live.

Children ages 8 and above are invited to train as an acolyte, a young person who serves the Lord by bringing the light of Christ into the church and lighting the altar candles during worship. Being an Acolyte is a meaningful way to introduce children to being an active participant in their journey of faith.
John 8:12
Confirmation
Confirmation classes run as needed for youth in grades 8 and older. New classes typically begin in the fall and culminate with the Rite of Confirmation in late spring.

Mission & Outreach seeks to follow Jesus’ teaching locally and around the globe. Our programs vary annually, but we are a vibrant, active community of faith.

The Mission & Outreach committee meets regularly to review how NUMC can best meet the needs of our surrounding communities and those in need around the world. If you possess a generous spirt and wish to help coordinate our efforts and offer insight for new programming, we welcome you to get involved!
Music Ministry
Adult Programming
Our choir meets weekly throughout the school year for practice and performs during Sunday morning worship. Anyone who loves to make a joyful noise is welcome to join!

Prayer Chain
Adult Programming
"Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
NUMC has an active prayer chain that connects both in person and via email. Our prayer warriors meet weekly, raising concerns and celebrations shared by our church family. Ever grateful for the opportunity to amplify the power of prayer, all are invited to join.

Stephen Ministry
Adult Programming

Stephen Ministry has existed at NUMC since 2009. It is a one-to-one lay caring ministry that equips and empowers lay caregivers – called Stephen Ministers – to provide high-quality, confidential, Christ-centered care to people who are hurting from divorce, terminal illness, unemployment, the stresses of care-giving to a family member or any other difficulty.
Care givers receive 50 hours of training in pastoral skills such as active listening, and then continue with bi-weekly supervision with other Stephen Ministers in the church, led by a trained Stephen Leader. They also engage in continuing education.
